Marina Bay Sands (MBS)
Located in the Central Business District of Singapore, Marina Bay Sands is a resort development with a casino, shopping mall, and hotel. The development was completed in 2010 and was marked as one of the most expensive standalone casino property. In the late 2010s, MBS underwent a major renovation by converting its theatre into a night club and restaurant which opened in 2019.
Conducted preliminary fire safety engineering assessment to address the increase in occupant load for the change of use from theatre to mixed-use wine & dine, dance floor and others.
Kidzania at Sentosa
Located on Sentosa Island. The indoor theme park offers role-play with real life and various fun and interactive activities for kids. The theme park has a floor area of approximately 11,000 m2.
Inadequate ceiling perforation was used for the smoke reservoir region which had affected the efficiency of the existing performance-based mechanical smoke extraction system.
Fire safety engineering assessments were conducted using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies to assess the smoke layer flow behaviour to eliminate plug-holing effects due to the constricted ceiling openings for smoke extraction.
Choa Chu Kang (CCK) Sports and Recreation complex
Choa Chu Kang (CCK) Sports and Recreation complex is an international competition standard, multi- sport facilities offering a range of sports and community functions, which opened in the early 2000s. In the late 2010s, the sports centre underwent an uplift and renovation.
The addition of a canopy over the open-to-sky concourse has resulted in deviations in the form of 2-way travel distances and discharge distances from exit staircases to external.
Performance-based approach using CFD modelling and evacuation simulation were conducted to assess the tenability limits in the discharge paths of the occupants.
Singapore Sports Hub
Singapore Sports Hub is an integrated sports and entertainment lifestyle hub located at Kallang, Singapore. Since 2014, SG Sports Hub has replaced the former National Stadium. The sports hub offers 55,000-seats with the world’s largest free-spanning retractable dome roof, an aquatic centre, a multi- sport indoor arena, and a water sports facility. SG Sports Hub has been a venue for international, regional and local events, ranging from the SEA Games, Singapore National Day Parade, International Championship Cups and concert events.
Conducted value-engineering for the engineered smoke control system (ESCS) with compliance to the prevailing Fire Code.
